Core Profession Development
Core CPD is the August INSET, DTLCs, the science of learning training and SEN updates, Please see whole school calendar for dates. (NQT Core CPD is additional to whole school CPD)
Department Teaching & Learning Communities: 1 week before the DTLC a pre-meeting task will be emailed out to all teaching staff. This task will take no more than 10 minutes to complete and will involve reading an extract from Rosenshine’s Principles in Action Book or a blog post. This will be discussed at the start of each DTLC. The DTLC Dates are (WB):

Science of Learning Training : The Science of Learning training will summarise existing cognitive-science research on how students learn, and connects it to practical implications for teaching. It will link to department’s learning principles along with this years curriculum planning focus. The dates for this training are:
Session 1: 07/10/19, Session 2: 03/02/20, Session 3: 11/05/20
Elective Professional Development Throughout the year there will be a number of elective CPD focused at pastoral skills, achievement, literacy and research. These are completely optional but will be great sources of professional development. JSM will email our termly elective CPD at the start of each term, so keep an eye out!
SEN Training Sessions: Understanding SEND students and their parents, Teaching Students with ASD, Teaching Students with Dyslexia, Teaching students with ADHD
Pastoral Principles Sessions: Understanding Meden parents and students/backgrounds
Achievement Sessions: As required
Literacy Sessions: TBC September 2019
Research Sessions: ‘Understand How We Learn’ Book Club (Autumn Term: September to December 2019)
